Of all my jobs though, one of the most rewarding was as an admin for a real estate team. As you can imagine, helping people to find their home, or in passing on their home to its next family, is very fulfilling. It was in this role that I learned how important working with the right real estate agent truly is. More frequently than I should have, I saw that the agents we were working across from would miss things and if not for the work we did the transaction would’ve not closed on time, or possibly failed to close. I’ve heard countless horror stories of people losing thousands of dollars because their agent missed something in a contract or lost thousands on their home sale because their home was priced incorrectly. This is made that much more frustrating when you realize that the agent that made a mistake was paid the same or similar commission as the agent that knocked it out of the park. Why would someone pay a mediocre or even a terrible agent the same as they would pay a great one? Because, most of us don’t know what to look for when hiring an agent.
